New Orleans, LA—All six HRI Lodging hotels in four different cities went “passionately pink” in early May to raise funds for the Susan G. Komen Foundation’s efforts to fight breast cancer, generating nearly $10,000 for the cause in a single day.
“Our teams in New Orleans, Shreveport, Jackson and Richmond each developed their own campaigns for the day that involved employees and guests alike,” said Sarah Gagnon, vice president of sales for HRI Lodging. The common activities at all six hotels were a rubber duck race in the hotel pool and a portion of the day’s revenue donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Together, the six hotels in four cities raised the funds for the Komen Foundation through a variety of activities that included:
• Pink bracelets and pink roses for sale in Jackson and Shreveport; • Pink desserts in the restaurants and pink cookies for sale at the front desk in New Orleans; • Pink Happy Hour, a pink hat contest , pink cookies at the front desk and pink items for sale in Richmond.
In addition, each hotel dressed out its lobby in all manner of pink, and hotel team members, including some of the managers, dressed themselves in pink.
“Overall, we were thrilled with the results of Passionately Pink Day,” said Gagnon. “The promotion achieved our multiple goals of raising funds for the Komen Foundation, educating guests about breast cancer and uniting our teams in six hotels located in four different cities in a common cause for one day. We’re proud of their effort, and we plan to do this again next year,” Gagnon added.
